This week and next week are going to be super busy for me as we prepare to train and form almost 200 catechists in our Fall Specialization Series. Please keep the catechists, facilitators, and families in your prayers. I will have more to say next week.

Until then we are offering you a chance to win a copy of the Catechist Handbook & Planning Guide.  Four individual winners will be randomly selected on one DRE/CRE will win one dozen copies of the guide for their team. To enter, leave a comment on this post by midnight on Saturday, September 11, 2010 and please indicate if you are entering for the individual prize or the DRE/CRE prize.  The giveaway will end on September 11, 2010.

I especially like the feature of Sunday Gospel quotations, I love to help my students make connections with what they are learning at mass on Sundays.

I’m part of my church’s children’s liturgy group and often find myself pouring through numerous sites to find the best options to make each session both enjoyable as well as meaningful for the kids.   17. Hello! I love teaching CCE. I’m teaching Kinder this yr. and I’m really excited to get to know my little ones soon. I would just love a copy of the Catechists’ Planner!! Like many of the Women on this site, I too pour over many sites on line trying to prepare the best way lesson that will be meaningful and exciting for the children. I love teaching them and watching their eyes light up when they understand something new. I’m so blessed to have this as a part of my life!

I have been fortunate enough to have taught 4th-8th grade (depending where I was needed). I’m always looking for ways to make the lessons more engaging and energizing…never just sitting in a chair and lecturing…I also want to mentor some Catechists and any ideas would be welcome!   19. Please enter me in the individual draw. We have a fairly small congregation in a small town and no religious education for our children. I am thinking and praying about trying to start a Sunday school to help me communicate about God more with my own children, as well as to draw more people to our church. It seems like such a big task! Your resource looks helpful.

  38. Thank you so much Dione!!! The planning guide is really helpful. I like how the feast days of saints are on the calender section. I also like the different activities of each month. I especially enjoy the colored liturgical banner on the corner of the Sunday box. Really helps me prepare when setting up our prayer table!

    This planning guide also gives you tips on lesson planning! What I’m doing this year is typing out my lessons as Dione did in a previous post. I plan on saving my lessons so that next year I have something that is already planned and can make better! (Hopefully…my parish continues to use the same text…) Maybe.. possibly… can even make a substitute folder with all my plans? Okay… maybe that’s tooooooooooo much… but this planning guide really makes me think of ways to be more prepared :)
