App Spotlight: Catholic News Live

Do you sometimes feel overwhelmed by the crush of information coming at you from a variety of news sources or wish you could filter your news to see only headlines relative to Catholicism? Then you’ll want to check out the wonderful Catholic News Live app. This universal app looks great on your iPad, iPhone or iPod touch, but the information presented can also be accessed via the Catholic News Live website.

A bargain at only .99, this app features one of my favorite tools, an interactive news map that shows stories of relevance for Catholics from a geographical perspective. In a world that seems to be growing smaller thanks to social media tools, this enables me to keep an eye on stories near my son’s college in Cambridge, MA or my friends in Europe or South America.

The reach of the stories covered on Catholic News Live is broad and not all are hard news — you’ll also find podcasts, blog posts, perspectives and even tweets! I love being able to pick up the Catholic News Live app any time and quickly scan the headlines or dive in for more information as time permits.

Another great feature of the Catholic News Live app is the ability to post the news story to your Facebook, Twitter, or Read it Later account or to share it by email or in a variety of other ways. Yet another good way to help friends and family stay abreast of news and information in the Church. I use this app frequently and hope you’ll enjoy it too!
