"Little Angels" -- New Resource and Giveaway

For me, Roma Downey and  Della Reese, were an answer to a prayer I hadn’t known I asked some 17 years ago.  Having grown up in a family that was “Christian” but didn’t “do church” (unless someone was getting married or being buried), it was a honest to God revelation to see that folks everywhere struggled with their faith and even angels sometimes needed a little direction and “saving.” I am, of course, speaking of the show Touched by an Angel.  A show that actually brought my family together around the television-a spot previously only held by “Monday Night Football” and the annual airings of The Ten Commandments and The Wizard of Oz.

Next month, Ms. Downey (a Roman Catholic!) again graces us with her “angelic” presence with the release of the DVD set, “Little Angels.” From their website (www.littleangels.com):

Discover the joy of learning and friendship with a heavenly new collection! From Executive Producer Roma Downey (“Touched by an Angel”) and Writer Phil Lollar (“Adventures in Odyssey”) comes the much-anticipated faith-based educational series, LITTLE ANGELS, soaring onto DVD from Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment.

LITTLE ANGELS is an animated DVD series created exclusively for preschool-aged children to teach not only practical learning skills, like ABCs and 1,2,3s, but also to introduce them to the spiritual, moral and ethical principles of the Bible. Of course, we think it’s terrific! (We might be biased…) But don’t just take our word for it – for the first time in their organization’s history, MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) has awarded a Seal-of-Approval to LITTLE ANGELS.

Also on the website, you will find a message from Roma and a sneak peak at their upcoming App for your iPhone or iPad!! In honor of the impending release of the DVD, we will be giving out two autographed copies of the DVD courtesy of Roma Downey and the folks over at 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment. Here’s all you have to do:  visit the Little Angels website and tell me here in the comments section at CatholicMom.com the name of the character I have used for this blog (and with whom I have a special affinity) AND the name of the Little Angel with whom YOU most identify or share an affinity. Entries must be posted by Saturday, November 5, 2011 at 11:59 p.m.

Good luck and blessings to you in your ministry!

  1. I too enjoyed Touched by an Angel and would love one of these DVD’s for my son and daughter. The angel you used was Dina and the one I relate to is Hayley!

  2. Oh, this series looks great. I would love to win it, but I have never seen it, so I’m not sure who the Little Angels are. Either way I would love to get it for all my little ones.

  3. Dina is the name of the angel character you used in your blog. She is also the one I most identify with as I consider myself a lifelong learner. Looks like a great new program and what an awesome giveaway!

  4. I am so excited for my preschooler to see this! She was just now dancing to the music introduction as I watched it. Dina is the angel shown above and I think I most relate to Charmeine, trying to keep the peace. Thank you for introducing us to this new resource!!

  5. Dina is the name of the character as well as the one I relate to the most. I’m so excited to see this new show! I’m sure my two kids will love it – and as a mom I love a show that teaches such important values!

  6. I am very excited about this new program for preschoolers!!! Yeah! Interesting characters, morals, basic skills, and they look adorable! Dina is the character that you featured in your email and Charmeine is the character that I relate to the most.

  7. Can’t wait to see the show with my Goddaughter! Dina is the featured character. I absolutely love animals which makes me most similar to Haley’s character.

  8. The little angel you used is Dina and she is the angel of learning. How cute! I like Charemine, the angel of Harmony. Music is my favorite thing! Thanks for such a great giveaway! I LOVED Touched by an Angel growing up, I was so sad when it was canceled! And I haven’t heard of this series. I’m excited to check it out!

  9. I loved “Touched by an Angel” and I know my children would love the DVD set. Your angel is Dina. I like Charmeine.

  10. It’s funny that you pick little Dina as your angel, because I chose her also. I am mother of 5 grown children and grandmother of 10 grandchildren. I taught school for years, including Head Start, college campus day care and an FBI childcare facility. I love the childs way of thinking and helping them to “get it” 🙂 Thanks for this wonderful site!

  11. Dina is the angel you featured, and as a homeschooling mom, she is the one I relate to most. This looks like a wonderful series!

  12. We LOVE Touched by an Angel here too! And our precious little Angel (the only girl in the house besides me!) is 5 and would LOVE this DVD show too! Thanks for the chance to win & God bless!!!

  13. Dina was the little angel on your blog, and Michael is my favorite guardian angel. Thanks Roma, 20th Century Fox, and Catholic Mom for this chance to win! 🙂
