Heading to Israel

4

On Wednesday of this week, I’ll be able to cross a lifelong dream off of my “some day” list as I depart on a nine-day trip to Israel. I’ll be in the company of nine other Catholic writers as part of a trip arranged by the Catholic Press Association in conjunction with the Israeli Ministry of Tourism.

Our nine-day adventure will take us to many of the highlights of Israel—mentally, as I write this I’m still preparing for all of the surprises, adventures and blessings that will surely find us in the Holy Land. I’m hoping to share this adventure with you, my friends at CatholicMom.com, by posting here on the blog and at my Facebook and Twitter pages.

My main purpose today is to invite you to share your prayer intentions with me. I will be carrying those as we journey to several very holy sites, and it will be a sincere honor to carry your prayers with me. If you’d prefer to share those anonymously, please feel free to email me at [email protected] and I will add your intentions to my book of prayers.

Also, I know we have some world travelers here, so if any of you have traveled in Israel I’d love your last minute tips and suggestions. I’ll likely be packing tomorrow, so be sure to send hints on what to wear and where to go. We won’t have a great deal of control over our schedule, but I’d love to hear from folks who have experienced this type of a trip in recent years. Finally, please pray for my husband who will be holding down our fort in my absence and for my fellow travelers as we embark on this amazing adventure together.

Share.

  1. What a journery to the Holly land. I’d love to go there one day. I’ll be praying for you, your family, and the group who is going with you.

Lisa, God bless you on your journey! How awesome and blessed is this experience, and thanks for taking our prayers with you.

  3. I’ll be praying for your group. My dad who is an ordained deacon taking a group from our church – they leave today. It’s his 3rd trip over there – he loves it!! He’s a Holy Land junkie!! Be prepared to have an amazing upcoming Lenten and Easter experience after having just been to all the places we’ll be meditating on during that time of the liturgical year.

  4. I hope you have a fantastic time! If you’re still there, I hope the ministry of tourism allows you to go and visit the West Bank. There are many Arab Christians there who feel isolated from the rest of the world; and you will not find friendlier people anywhere than the Palestinians. Visit Bethlehem, Jericho, or Nablus (to see Jacob’s Well and visit the Missionaries of Charity House.) I have lived there for two years; and I can’t recommend Palestine highly enough to visitors. Take care!
