I don’t know Cheryl Caputo personally, and I don’t actually even know if she is  Catholic, but when it came time to select this week’s “Board of the Week” I was so happy that my friend and fellow pinner Allison Girone pointed me to Cheryl’s amazing “My Jesus” board.

Since today is Good Friday, it’s seems especially right to select a board which has the following description:

“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life” (John 3:16)

Cheryl has a variety of lovely images of Jesus Christ for you to ponder and explore today as we journey towards Easter. Some are classics. Many will be new to you. All of them inspire me to pause and give silent thanks today for the Lord who gave his live for our salvation.

One final treat for you — our good friend Allison Girone of the Catholic Pinterest Group Board has kindly agreed to offer a weekly pointer for us on how to use some best practices to enjoy and effectively employ Pinterest. Here’s this week’s tip from Allison:

Commenting. Who doesn’t like getting a comment? If you’ve really appreciated a pin or have a kind question, why not reach out? Like I say on my blog, the mannerly use of commenting is how we begin to build relationships. Commenting can make Pinterest a more conversational place, a community.

If you’re a Catholic using Pinterest, please drop a link in the comments below to share your boards. Also, I’d love to hear about why you love Pinterest and how you think this latest craze might be used to spread the Good News.

  1. As the Catholic Pinterest board is in the 1400s of followers at this point, I am amazed at how many beautiful Catholic pin boards there are! But I shouldn’t be…there is so much beauty in our faith and it is exciting to share it. Thanks, Lisa and Cheryl.

  2. Allison, that’s so awesome — I love that you have close to fifty pinners there too! Keep up the great work. Whenever I look at the board, I find amazing treasures!

Thank you Lisa. What a blessing that Pinterest has opened up this exciting treasury of images, scriptures and videos to help inspire us to love our Lord and our Catholic faith even more. And thank you for creating this wonderful resource for Catholic moms.

  4. Wow, Cheryl I am so glad you were able to come over for a visit! I truly enjoy your boards on Pinterest and think they provide a terrific example of a way that we can each share our love for our faith online. Thanks and keep up the great work!

I’m so overwhelmed by pinterest. And equally intrigued!! I grudgingly started the account for my oldest daughter for crafty projects…she got side tracked by cute pandas! I’m finding it quite interesting and had NO idea about the Catholic pinterest group (I’ve been plugging my ears to all things pinterest prior to this), so how exciting!! Thanks for sharing!

  6. Hi Lisa,

I just checked on Cheryl’s My Jesus board, it’s very amazing. How long did she build the board and how could she create such a wonderful Jesus ‘showcase’. I bet that she has been researching for sometimes.

It will be wonderful if you can also submit the pins in
I believe that it can also reach other people in this new networking and social voting site, and inspire a lot of people.

Have a look and let me know your comment.

  7. I am so glad I found pinterest and your site. I was in a bit of a desert, and I feel that I am on the way out. So, I cannot tell you how inspirational this has been. I think Pinterest can be part of the new evangelization in which Pope Benedict has asked us to be involved. May God bless you all.
