Descent of the Holy Spirit

We’re reflecting on the third glorious mystery of the rosary today as part of our celebration of the launch of A Catholic Mother’s Companion to Pregnancy.

The Holy Spirit has become such an integral part of my faith life, though I don’t know that I ever give him enough credit.

The great ideas I have every so often? The grace I have to not strangle a child (or myself)? The moment where I decide to pause and pray in the midst of trial? All because of the Holy Spirit, not because of Sarah.

Being open to the Holy Spirit is something I continue to learn from this mystery. I also remind myself that the very first novena was prayed before the first Pentecost: Mary and the disciples were in prayer between the Ascension and Pentecost.

What a great example to follow, especially when I’m facing any kind of challenge (which would be everyday, if I’m honest).

Our host today is Karen Edmisten. You’ll find my reflection on the Descent of the Holy Spirit there, as well as the prayers.

I hope you’ll join us today–and each day of the tour–while we pray together for all of our intentions. I have a special set of intentions that I’m carrying with me as I pray this, and I will remember each of yours as well.

Don’t forget that you can enter to win a Nook tablet as we pray and help us celebrate the launch of the latest title in the CatholicMom.com book line. You can enter once a day during from now until October 28.
