"Family Addition" - Television that Could Change Your Life

Lisa here, with a sneak peek at a new family television show, Family Addition, that debuts tomorrow — Friday, June 7th. So many of us saw and loved The Blind Side. Leigh Anne Tuohy is the “real mom” behind the role so brilliantly played by Sandra Bullock. While I haven’t yet seen Family Addition, I’m excited by the preview and can’t wait to check it out tomorrow night. Shows like this one that support and uplift families and that tell such terrific real stories deserve to be supported. Tune in or set your DVR!

Family Addition with Leigh Anne Tuohy” makes its world television premiere on UP (formerly GMC-TV) on Friday, June 7, at 9 pm ET. Each episode follows a different family as they go through the practical, physical and emotional process of adding a new family member and also facilitates a makeover of part of their homes to accommodate the new family additions. Tuohy provides the series’ creative vision and oversees the weekly home improvement projects with her team. This heartwarming new show will inspire your family to value people and realize that when given opportunity, it will change a life!

“There are so many unsung heroes in communities across America who demonstrate unconditional love and support by taking on the responsibility of fostering and then adopting children in their care,” says Tuohy. “These life-changing, emotional situations can be overwhelming.  In ‘Family Addition,’ we help to break down walls to help families deal with the changes they experience and to help ensure that ultimately each child has an opportunity to have a forever family and a place where they feel loved, valued and accepted.”

“Family Addition” also features other famous members of “Team Tuohy,” including Tuohy’s vivacious daughter, Collins Tuohy (played by Lily Collins in The Blind Side), a noted inspirational speaker and co-owner of Whimsy Cookie, a boutique cookie company; and witty Special Educator “Miss Sue” Mitchell (played by Kathy Bates in The Blind Side), whose career spans more than four decades in education, with experience from elementary to the collegiate level.  The women provide support to the families in unique ways.  And, as is Leigh Anne’s get-it-done-style, don’t be surprised who else may show up as needed to help get the project completed. For more info, please visit: http://www.uptv.com/familyaddition

About Leigh Anne Tuohy

Dubbed a “warrior princess” by author Michael Lewis in his best-selling book The Blind Side, Leigh Anne is the inspirational matriarch of the Tuohy family. A Memphis, Tennessee native, Leigh Anne attended Briarcrest Christian School and went on to graduate from the University of Mississippi, “Ole Miss,” with a Bachelor’s of Science in Interior Design. There, Leigh Anne met Sean Tuohy, her husband of 30 years. Both were active and ambitious college students: Leigh Anne was a cheerleader, campus favorite, homecoming maid and active member of her sorority; Sean became a record-breaking SEC basketball champion and still holds several SEC assist records. They are the proud parents of daughter Collins (26) and sons Michael Oher (26) and Sean, Jr. (19). In February 2013, Leigh Anne and the whole Tuohy family were on the sidelines cheering Michael and the Baltimore Ravens on to his first Super bowl victory.
