I’m biased: I’m a Notre Dame grad, so I tend to love all things Irish. Yes, you can line up in the comments with your feelings about that if you’d like. On the occasions when my alma mater makes missteps (and I’ll admit they happen), I prefer to pray through Our Lady’s intercession for the administrators and faculty than to openly criticize.
But today, I’ve got great news about a recent development under the Dome: the launch of the Office of Campus Ministry’s new Notre Dame Daily Faith app.
Developed by the awesome team at Little i Apps, LLC, this app makes it easy to connect with many of the terrific resources provided by Campus Ministry to aid us in our daily faith journey.
I’ve already downloaded and prayed with the free app and can see that it will quickly become a part of my morning prayer routine. If you’re looking to make daily reading of the Gospel or research on the lives of the saints a part of your spiritual time, check out the details in the press release below.
Great job Campus Ministry and Little i Apps!
South Bend, IN – In an effort to grow in new media while increasing participation in faith-based activities on campus, the University of Notre Dame Office of Campus Ministry has launched a new smartphone application, Notre Dame Daily Faith, for use on Apple and Android mobile devices. Developed by Little i Apps, LLC, the app offers a faith-based calendar of events at the University and access to prayers, saints of the day and daily gospel reflections.
Users who download the app can search for events by topic or organization and set up reminders to attend through a notification on their mobile device. Students, faculty, staff, alumni, community members, parents and visitors are invited to search the calendar for events relating to prayer, lectures and discussions, fellowship groups, service, retreats and sacred music at Notre Dame.
In addition to Campus Ministry, other University departments represented in the app include the Congregation of Holy Cross, the Center for Social Concerns, the Center for Ethics & Culture, the Institute for Church Life, the Department of Theology, the Alliance for Catholic Education, Multicultural Student Programs and Services and the Basilica of the Sacred Heart.
“Notre Dame Daily Faith is the first app of its kind at Notre Dame,” said Campus Ministry Director, Rev. Jim King, C.S.C. “Instead of searching various websites for dates and times of upcoming events, students, faculty, staff, alumni, parents and visitors are now able to easily search our calendar for faith-based events.”
Over the past year, Campus Ministry has made several updates that we hope will make us more effective in communicating with our students,” Fr. King said. “We have a new website, a weekly e-newsletter and now, an app too. With these tools, we are creating new opportunities for students to connect with us and continue their prayer lives on campus.”
