This hardcover, concealed coil book is packed with prompting reflections and questions, tracing the child’s Catholic journey of Faith: the celebration of the Sacraments, the growing knowledge of the Catholic Faith through Catechism and Tradition and the child’s deepening personal relationship with Jesus.

Catechism references are included to look up specific questions, although there is a complete answer key in the back of the book for Catechism based questions.

My First Holy Communion

From Ignatius Press

This book is a completely unique presentation of the Catholic faith for children preparing for First Holy Communion. It is a rare combination of gifted writing, wonderful vibrant illustration, and exquisite design. Through stories from the Bible, bits of the Church’s history, and descriptions of the sacraments, this book leads young people and their parents or grandparents into the mystery of the Eucharist. The heart of the Church and her sacraments is presented as the life of Jesus himself.

First published in Ireland under the guidance of renowned theologian Father Vincent Twomey, SVD. A glorious volume with gorgeous full color illustrations on every page. Provides thorough sacramental preparation, and includes parent pages with important in-depth explanations. Ideal gift for children!

Deirdre Mary Ascough is a mother and teacher. She has bachelor’s degree in theology from Milltown Institute, Dublin, and a master’s in theology from the Franciscan University of Steubenville, Ohio.

Lisa E. Brown is a highly accomplished artist who works in a wide variety of media. She was commissioned by Pope John Paul II in 2002 to provide ten giant portraits of well-known saints for the World Youth Day in Toronto, Canada.

  1. My favorite First Communion memory is actually of my first daughter’s First Eucharist a few years ago. She was absolutely beautiful, practically angelic. We took a photo of her and her brother and sister and it remains my favorite photo of the three.

  2. My First Communion was many years ago, but I reminisce each year as I teach the First Communion class in our parish! Of course I remember the beautiful dress, the White Missal and Rosary I received, but most of all I remember it was the very first time I received Jesus in Holy Communion. It was an exciting and special day and I tell the story every year to my class. 🙂

  3. Just watching my 2 girls: My oldest many years ago and my youngest just this past weekend taking their first communion. It was such a wonderful, joyous moment that I was so filled with love. Happy Moment and Time.

  4. My favorite First Communion moments are when my children received theirs. As a mom there isn’t anything more rewarding than watching your children grow in their love of the Lord. Two of my nieces will be making their First Communion over the next two weekends.

  5. My favorite memories are when my children make their First Holy Communion. They have a glow about them, and such love in there heart for Jesus. I have had 5 make there First Holy Communion and my 6th Mary makes hers in two weeks. Such a special time for children. God bless to all of yours making First Holy Communions.
