By Brian Burch and Emily Stimpson

About the book:

They’re all Catholics who have shaped America. In this page-a-day history, 365 inspiring stories celebrate the historic contributions of American men and women shaped by their Catholic faith. From famous figures to lesser-known saints and sinners, The American Catholic Almanac tells the fascinating, funny, uplifting, and unlikely tales of Catholics’ influence on American history, culture, and politics. Spanning the scope of the Revolutionary War to Notre Dame football, this unique collection of stories highlights the transformative role of the Catholic Church in American public life over the last 400 years.

  1. I think it would be fun to read a page of this every day at dinner time — a great way to learn bits of history about our faith!

  2. I always enjoy learning interesting (and maybe obscure) facts about my Catholic faith and those who are Catholic. This would be a great combination of history and Catholicism.

  3. This book sounds so interesting! I really enjoy reading inspiring stories and love that there is one for each day of the year. Love being inspired by other Catholics 🙂

  4. I am a DRE at my church and I am always looking for something that will peak a child’s interest. This might be something that fill that spot. I will be ordering this book, if I don’t win it.

  5. I’ve always loved reading about the saints, this sounds like it would be really enjoyable learning about more modern catholics! I would love to add it to my book collection!

  6. This is the second time in two days that I have heard good things about this book. Do you think this is a message from God?

  7. I also recently learned about John Wayne’s conversion. I have loved him since I was very young. I would love to read more about him and other Catholics who influenced and changed the U.S. We need to keep true history in our education and culture. Thank you so much for giving the opportunity to receive this book for free. God bless!

We are studying American History in our homeschool this year. This book looks like a great supplement, especially for the teen.

  9. This book sounds awesome! I’ve never heard of it until now, but I think it would be great, especially for my 12 year old. Thanks for the opportunity.

As someone who is in the process of RCIA, I would LOVE this book. The John Wayne story had me hooked!
