Jesus Daily: Putting the Word to Work

1c0af9c27ac5a27120def38b05e8459bJesus Daily is a popular Facebook page with over 27 million “likes”, but it’s also now a handy daily devotional that you can use every day of the year. Here’s the blueprint:

Based on the major themes found on the most active Facebook page in history, JESUS DAILY is a 365-day interactive devotional that goes beyond even the fan page to create a deeper experience and cultural movement that celebrates your redemption in Christ. JESUS DAILY presents a devotional thought but also challenges you to respond to each daily reflection using a variety of social media tools.

JESUS DAILY is a worldwide revolution in how you can connect, share, and worship the Father personally and with other believers.

Taking today’s entry as an example, the scripture for today contains a brief devotional reflection entitled “The Best News” which is an uplifting reflection on Luke 2:9-10. These verses recount the appearance of an angel to the shepherds, announcing the “good news” of Christ’s birth.

But what truly makes this book different from other daily devotionals I’ve seen is the short “Daily Interaction” challenge at the bottom of the page which invites the reader to connect with the scripture passage with an achievable web or social media related activity. For today, the interaction invites the reader to eschew online shopping for gifts in exchange for gifting an activity or experience which can be undertaken together with the recipient… perhaps in sharing a class or outing as a gift, you might have a chance along the way to share that “good news” that the shepherds received!

Here’s a video sharing a bit more about this unique book:

A word for Catholic readers: This book is published by a Christian publisher and all of the scripture is taken from the NIV (New International Version) of the Bible.

My favorite features of Jesus DailyIt’s compact size, hardcover format, full color pages, and especially that “daily interaction” reminder to connect the Word with the work!
