Question of the Week: August 25, 2015

QOW large square

The month of August has several big feasts of the Blessed Mother:

  • August 5, The Dedication of the Basilica of St. Mary Major
  • August 15, The Assumption of the Blessed Mother
  • August 22, The Queenship of the Blessed Mother
  • August is also the month of the Immaculate Heart of Mary. And we’re almost into September, the month of Our Lady of Sorrows.

The Blessed Mother has so many titles–which one do you relate to the most? What makes it special to you?

  1. Mine is definitely Our Lady Queen of Peace – I started praying actively through her intercession within the past few years specifically for peace. I tend to pray to her regularly now this way, since life often feels so lacking in peace. I pray for the peace to deal with challenging situations, for peace in our world and in my little corner of the world, and for peace of mind in knowing that Mary carries all of my intentions to her precious son and to our Heavenly Father. I found this interesting information on this particular Marian title: Great question – can’t wait to hear what others add!

  2. I love the title Seat of Wisdom. As a mom, I crave the wisdom that will guide my children, my husband and myself to Heaven. Mary holds that Wisdom. I need her.

  3. My favorite is Our Lady of Perpetual Help. My grandmother had that image on her kitchen wall and called it “Mother of Perpetual Help.” I like my grandmother’s wording of the title even better; it makes me think of a mother, always concerned for all her children. I keep a holy card of Our Lady of Perpetual Help in my own kitchen.

  4. Our Lady Queen of the Angels- being a visual person- just picturing her there in Heaven as queen and mother is very comforting- a perfect world of peace to meditate upon. She is so beautiful- thanks for this post.
