FINAL_LisaHendley_RISENMemeIn January and February of this year, we took you to the movies for a few sneak peaks inside the highly acclaimed film RISEN. Our coverage included my personal interviews with the film’s stars Joseph Fiennes (Clavius) and Tom Felton (Lucias). Bishop Barron shared his review of the film, saying of it, “I was surprised and delighted to discover that the movie is, in fact, robustly Christian and substantially faithful to the Biblical account of what transpired after the death of Jesus.”

Now, in case you missed it in theaters, you have the opportunity to bring this movie home digitally on May 10th or on May 24th on 4K Ultra HD™, Blu-ray™ or DVD. Order yours on Amazon and support CatholicMom.com with your purchase.

CULVER CITY, Calif., April 25, 2016 – Joseph Fiennes (Hercules), Tom Felton (Harry Potter franchise),
Academy Award® nominee Peter Firth (Best Supporting Actor, Equus, 1977) and Cliff Curtis
(“Fear the Walking Dead”) star in the biblical epic RISEN, debuting on digital May 10 and on Blu-ray, DVD and next-generation 4K Ultra HD May 24 from AFFIRM Films and Sony Pictures Home Entertainment. The faith-based drama follows Clavius (Fiennes), a powerful Roman military tribune, and his aide Lucius (Felton), who are tasked with disproving the rumors of a risen Messiah in the weeks following the crucifixion of Christ. RISEN also stars María Botto (“Mad Dogs”), Antonio Gil (Quantum of Solace) and Luis Callejo (The Boat).

risenDVDBonus content on the RISEN Blu-ray, DVD and digital formats includes three featurettes. In “The Mystery of The Resurrection: Making Risen,” director Kevin Reynolds, his cast and crew detail the making of the compelling film; in “A.D. Jerusalem,” fans learn how the production brought the ancient settings to life; and in “Script to Screen,” producers discuss the making of RISEN. Blu-ray and digital exclusive content includes deleted scenes and “The Battle of the Zealots Deconstructed,” a featurette that goes behind the scenes to see how one of the film’s most epic sequences was shot.

4K Ultra HD features four times the resolution of high definition, high dynamic range (HDR)–which produces brilliant highlights, vibrant colors and greater contrast on compatible displays–and Dolby Atmos audio, remixed specifically for the home theater environment, delivering captivating sound that places and moves audio anywhere in the room, including overhead.

Synopsis:

RISEN is the epic Biblical story of the Resurrection, as told through the eyes of a non-believer. Clavius (Joseph Fiennes), a powerful Roman military tribune, and his aide, Lucius (Tom Felton), are tasked with solving the mystery of what happened to Jesus (Cliff Curtis) in the weeks following the crucifixion, in order to disprove the rumors of a risen Messiah and prevent an uprising in Jerusalem.

Based on the story by Paul Aiello with a screenplay by Kevin Reynolds and Paul Aiello, RISEN is directed by Kevin Reynolds. The film is produced by Mickey Liddell, Patrick Aiello, and Pete Shilaimon, with
