As I’ve been moving through my ordinary, everyday life, lately I’ve become aware of something incredible. I’ve realized that every day, without leaving my house–heck, without even getting out of my pajamas, I am partnering with God. I partner with Him in fulfilling His plan and His will, through the way I love and care for my family. I play a crucial part in bringing His plans to fruition through my prayerful participation with Him each day.
We are participating with the Divine through the way we live out the ordinary responsibilities of motherhood and marriage. What a beautiful, purposeful vocation we have said yes to! Our children and our husbands were hand-selected for each one of us. God knows there is something specific about the way we will nourish, challenge, and care for those He’s given to us that will enable them to fulfill His plan and purpose in their lives.
And most importantly, God chose us to be the bringer of His heavenly love to them.
When I think about my life in these terms, I feel incredibly honored. Honored to be a woman and a mother. Honored to be used by God to love, clothe, feed, and spiritually nourish His precious people whom He has placed in my care during this earthly life. I am His hands, His feet, His voice, His shoulder, His heart. Motherhood is indeed a high calling. And marriage is a sacred vocation.
The Love of God
Every day, I am sustained and kept on track in carrying out my ‘participation mission’ by one thing alone: God’s love for ME. His heavenly love provides the nourishment and the fortitude that I need in order to do what is required of me. That is, to love the imperfect humans around me in the way He wants them to be loved.
- without letting my ego or pride get in the way
- without focus on their human imperfections (or mine)
- by choosing to see and relate with the Truth of who they are (and again, not getting hooked by the imperfect or undesirable parts of our humanity)
God’s love for me and you is Huge and Powerful! Beyond comprehension and not at all contingent on us, thank goodness. Lean into His love today. Ask Him to pour it on! And then be still, even for a moment, and soak in it.
Many blessings to you and yours,
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.” – John 3:16
“No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.” – Romans 8:37-39
