I am convinced, everybody is going through something. We all have our crosses to bear and in turn, opportunities to receive and cooperate with God’s grace. In Same Kind of Different as Me, I saw a family, two men in particular, embrace that grace and run with it, impacting thousands of lives along the way.
In this true story about the life of Ron Hall, his wife Deborah and the homeless man they befriend, the overpowering message I received is the importance of letting go of your apprehensions and cooperating with God. For some, we get to do this through beautiful, sweet moments, but for Ron, it came through the ugly and hard realities – infidelity, alcoholism, cancer, homelessness, racism… You name it, it happened.
I had the chance to talk to Ron about his life and story, and casting Greg Kinnear to play him in the film (how cool is that?).
Same Kind of Different As Me is endorsed by Archbishop Chaput and opened in theaters everywhere October 20th.
