You’ve heard of Sister Act? Well, the Real Sister Act is coming to Los Angeles for the first time ever! The Daughters of St Paul Choir is performing an engaging and upbeat Christmas concert on December 15 & 16, 2017 7:30pm at the Veterans Memorial Complex at 4117 Overland Ave in Culver City, CA. This is a Christmas event like nun other!
The Daughters of St Paul are women religious dedicated to bringing the joy of God’s love through all forms of media, and in particular, through music. The Sisters are publishers of books, e-books, apps, websites and are also editors, sound engineers, videographers, writers, managers, directors, musicians, and singers. They have a Pauline Books & Media center and Media Studies Center on Sepulveda Boulevard in Culver City from which they minister to people in the Industry and beyond. Their center includes a Chapel and Prayer Garden and conference room where they hold retreats and speaker events as a way of reaching out to people’s spiritual needs.
For the past 30 years, the Daughters of St Paul Choir has recorded over 25 albums, sold more than 1 million copies and performed Christmas Concert tours for 22 years, singing to sold-out crowds in 1000+ seat venues reaching almost 10,000 people annually during the tour with the message of God’s love. The Sisters’ music is on iTunes, Spotify, Amazon and numerous other outlets. Their website tells who they are and why they sing: daughtersofstpaulchoir.org. Ultimately, it is about their love of Christ and their joy in life, as Sr. Nancy Usselmann says, “Jesus is the heart of our existence as religious Sisters. It’s his love that touches us at the core of our beings that we cannot but share this tremendous joy with all whom we meet.” Sr. Nancy is a choir member and the Director of the Pauline Center for Media Studies in Culver City.
The Christmas concert is a fun, lively, energetic, inspiring and joyful experience touching the little kids to the 90 year olds! The concert engages each person fully into the experience of the Christmas message and the love of Jesus. These Sisters share their love and joy with the entire audience, making them laugh and cry as the Sisters tell stories and reflections in between each song. “Hearing from the people whom we are called to minister to—their powerful stories of conversion, coming back to the Lord and the desire to have God in their life through music—makes me want to sing 24/7,” says choir member Sr. Fay Pele.
The proceeds will go to support the Sisters’ ministry of outreach offering people hope and spiritual healing through their welcoming space at the Pauline Books & Media store and Chapel in Culver City. It will help to make the Center more of a place of community, a gathering space and a digital spiritual experience for those who visit. A portion of the concert’s funds will also go to assist our heroes, the disabled veterans.
Be taken up into the spirit of Christmas with the Sisters’ unique renditions of Christmas favorites and contemporary inspirational songs celebrating the true meaning of Christmas.
