We enter this new year filled with deep joy and gratitude.

First, we have just taken in the wonderful news from Pope Francis on December 18 that Father Peyton is now Venerable! Because of this good news, we pray with deep joy for Venerable Patrick Peyton’s beatification and canonization!

Second, we pray with renewed hope that Venerable Patrick Peyton will become the “Saint for Family Prayer.”

Third, we pray unceasingly for the ongoing mission of Venerable Patrick Peyton to help families pray. This mission continues on 5 continents through ministry centers in 16 countries that reach the entire world through the genius of digital technology and in person prayer experiences.

Fourth, we offer heartfelt thanks to all the friends and collaborators of Holy Cross Family Ministries who are already praying for the advancement of Father Peyton’s Cause.

Fifth, we are certain that Venerable Patrick Peyton’s work is not anywhere near completion. We invite all who are able and willing to join in introducing Venerable Patrick Peyton and Family Rosary Prayer to a whole new generation of families.

At the heart of Father Peyton’s passionate commitment to Family Prayer and the Rosary was the conviction that, “The family that prays together stays together.”

With all of the above in mind, we offer this unique Novena of Thanksgiving starting January 1, 2018, and culminating on January 9, the date of Venerable Patrick Peyton’s birth in 1909.

What is a novena?

A novena is an ancient tradition of devotional prayer. The word novena is rooted in Latin, novem (nine). Often the faithful pray a novena to submit petitions, seek favors, obtain graces or give thanksgiving for favors received.

A novena offers worship to Our Father through the intercession of Our Mother Mary or other saints.

At this time, we will pray in thanksgiving to Our Father for Father Peyton’s designation as “Venerable.” Our petitions are for Family Unity and we make our prayer through the intercession of our Blessed Mother Mary through Rosary prayer.

As we offer our petition for Family Unity, we know that you and your family through the grace of God will be spiritually enriched, thus living out Venerable Patrick Peyton’s belief that The Family That Prays Together Stays Together. As families around the world pray and are enriched, we will see that A World at Prayer is a World at Peace, also Venerable Patrick Peyton’s belief and vision.

So, Let us Pray! Here at CatholicMom.com, we will offer the full text of the novena prayers at 6 AM Eastern daily through January 9. You may also download the novena ebook from FamilyRosary.org.

FamilyRosary.org also offers an infographic on how to pray the Rosary that you can share with your children as they learn this form of prayer.
