We join together for our ninth day of prayer for a renewal of virtue in American media focusing on protection of families from interior habits of covetousness.
March 25: In 2018 the date falls on Palm/Passion Sunday (but typically this day is celebrated as the Feast of the Annunciation.) We pray for Mary’s mantle to protect all souls from covetousness triggered by the marketing that promotes media and entertainment.
Heavenly Father, renew virtue in American media and protect families from interior habits of covetousness triggered by the marketing that promotes media and entertainment.
Dear Blessed Mother Mary, pray with us that families will grow strong in virtue to resist the constantly advertised invitations to covet the possessions, lifestyle, and friendships of others. Enable us to see beyond the attractive marketing upon which every form of entertainment and media depends. At Fatima, you implored everyone to abandon the sinful habits that enslave us and choose the peace and joy of faith and virtue offered through your son, Jesus, instead. We pray that through your intercession, along with the prayers of all the angels and saints, that the Holy Spirit will evangelize our imaginations.
May God enable us to be creators and consumers of entertainment and media that feeds our souls and frees us from all earthly covetousness through a greater longing for eternal life. Blessed Mother, at the Annunciation you surrendered your life so that Jesus, the Master storyteller, the one who taught through parables, could be born in you. Pray that we too will offer our whole lives to God so that Jesus is born more fully in us. Please pray that we can feel true contrition for the way our covetousness and self-centered sins add to the sense of betrayal Jesus felt during His Passion and death. May our hearts be renewed so we, through His mercy, become living parables: stories of virtue, redemption, humility, and JOY. May the grace of God that brought Jesus back to life after His death transform our media, our entertainment, and our culture and shine light upon the world.
Pray the Closing Prayer of the Rosary and the Rosary Fatima Prayer.
O God, whose only-begotten Son, by His life, death and resurrection, has purchased for us the rewards of eternal life; grant, we beseech Thee, that, meditating upon the mysteries of the Most Holy Rosary of the Blessed Virgin Mary, we may imitate what they contain and obtain what they promise, through the same Christ our Lord. Amen.
O my Jesus, forgive us our sins. Save us from the fires of hell. Lead all souls to heaven, especially those who need thy mercy most.
Thanks for Praying!
I hope you have been spiritually strengthened and enriched through this nine-day prayer. My husband likes doing novenas because they have clear start and end date. He feels like he accomplishes something when we pray a novena. I like novenas because Mary and the apostles prayed the first novena for nine days after Jesus’ Ascension as they waited for the Holy Spirit to come on Pentecost. Our modern world needs a new Pentecost to ignite the flame of faith and virtue within the hearts of everyone creating and consuming media and entertainment.
Thanks for joining us in these nine days of prayer together. (Or at least as many days as you can!) I gratefully, humbly ask you to also include Virtue Works Media with your intentions in each of these daily prayers. Let’s start today and take the inspiration and strength we receive through these prayers to communicate a joyful desire to create and consume virtue in media and entertainment in our little circle of life. God is the original creative artist; working with him we can have confidence that it is possible to overcome evil with good and renew the face of the earth, from Hollywood to Silicon Valley and beyond.
