Today’s Gospel has Jesus reminding us to “remain in My love” through keeping His commandments. Sometimes I wonder how far away I’ve driven myself away from that love and His commandments “in my thoughts and in my words.” Then, my prayer(s) are answered, my joy is completed. How did that happen? And why am I surprised?
Deep within my relationship with Jesus is always a lesson in patience. No matter what the liturgical time of year, or time of life, the lesson being taught is patience. You would think I would have learned it by now.
Over the last several months, I prayed for many intentions. Some were for friends and a couple were for myself. My impatience started to get to me, especially the prayer intentions for myself.
I started to panic a little. I felt foolish. My prayer intentions were minor compared to what others were going through. I took a deep breath and whispered, “Jesus, I trust in you.”
My own prayer intentions were answered.
Love is not too far away, though I don’t recognize it until the lesson is learned.
