Once in a while, a film comes along which expertly marries the struggles of earth with the glories of heaven. “Love and Mercy: Faustina” is such a film.

The emotionally-riveting docudrama tells the incredible story of a humble nun who experiences a soul-stirring vision of Jesus. It was that vision that became the inspiration for the “Divine Mercy” image of Jesus which has been seen around the world.

The actress who portrays Faustina, Kamila Kaminska, excels in demonstrating both the humility and the fierce determination of a woman who eventually would be declared a saint.

“At a certain point I stopped focusing on St. Faustina, and I started experiencing God’s presence, love and trust,” Kaminska said.

The film seamlessly weaves dramatic depictions of Faustina’s life with interviews from contemporary experts about the events which shaped Faustina and ultimately led to the global reach of the Divine Mercy devotion.

It is truly striking how Faustina’s message of the love and mercy of God faced overwhelming obstacles in its dissemination. Perhaps the struggle is in itself a testament to the power of the message. Indeed, today’s world seems starved at times for the beautiful, redemptive nature of mercy.

“Inspiring, insightful and transformative, ‘Love and Mercy: Faustina’ is masterfully done!” says Fr. Donald Calloway, MIC, author of No Turning Back: A Witness to Mercy. “Divine Mercy is at the heart of the Gospel, and this fascinating docudrama reveals the history, devotion and power of one of the greatest messages for our times.”

Viewers may also be delighted and amazed at the role that the future Pope St. John Paul II played in the spread of the Divine Mercy devotion. The film also includes newly-released letters and documents which further illuminate the nature of the Divine Mercy revelation.

The movie earned rave reviews from theater-goers in the United States when it was released on October 28. The response has been so great that an additional showing has been scheduled for December 2. To find the showing near you, visit FathomEvents.com/events/faustina-love-and-mercy.
