Public-screening opportunities are varied:
• Any group can benefit from public exhibitions of a film that enjoyed national buzz – but in limited theatrical release. Many moviegoers never got a chance to see this amazing film because it didn’t come to their town. Now, through a site license, it can!
• Priests and other parish leaders can organize a parish movie night. They can buy a site license package and host one (or multiple) parish viewing nights.
• Movie nights and public screenings sponsored by Knights of Columbus councils. Several Cristero martyrs were Knights, including a priest.
• Diocesan and parish Hispanic Ministries can bring this story to audiences that are extremely interested in and excited about FOR GREATER GLORY. This film is the legacy of many Mexican-American Catholics.
• Groups for young adults and men will find the film very compelling because of its message, production values and cast. The film stars Andy Garcia and Eva Longoria, two of most popular actors in today’s culture, and it’s an adventure, romance and action film all rolled into one!
• Faith formation and prayer groups get an opportunity to see the true story of 20th Century martyrs on the American continent. Several of the martyrs depicted in this film were beatified just five years ago. A great film to see on the faith and the heroic witness of our Catholic Saints.
FOR GREATER GLORY also tells a great story of female strength and service through the depiction of the Feminine Brigades of St. Joan of Arc, which grew to more than 25,000 strong in support of the Cristero fighters.

Catholic leaders have praised FOR GREATER GLORY for its message and production values.

FOR GREATER GLORY is a top-flight production whose message of the importance of religious freedom has particular resonance for us today,” said Most Rev. José Horacio Gomez, Archbishop of Los Angeles. “It is my earnest hope that people of faith throughout our country will rally behind FOR GREATER GLORY, and in doing so, will highlight the importance of religious freedom in our society.”

FOR GREATER GLORY is ‘must-see’ viewing for all those who care about faith and liberty today,” said Knights of Columbus Supreme Knight Carl Anderson.

“The power of this film is matched only by the timeliness of its message,” said CatholicVote.org President Brian Burch.

“Every person of faith should draw courage from the tragically heroic witness of the Cristeros,” said Fr. Andrew Small, National Director of the Pontifical Mission Societies. “Their sacrifice reminds us that unless we learn from history, we risk repeating it. Besides being an important movie, it is extremely well done.”

Please enter me in the contest. Although he is featured in the film (except in some recreated footage during the credits) Blessed Miguel Pro is one of my heroes–a twentieth century parallel to St. Edmund Campion of Elizabethan England!

  2. I would love to win a copy of this film! I still haven’t had a chance to see it, but now that its out on DVD I plan to see it soon!

  3. I look forward to seeing this film, with my local theatre being 35 miles away and living in the “Bible Belt” this film didn’t get much publicity and didn’t last long in theatres.

  4. Bummed that this movie was not in our local theaters (Charlottesville, VA), but happy for opportunity to win a copy. It is amazing that this story was suppressed in Mexican history.

  5. I wasn’t able to see this in the theater, sadly (4 young children and a dearth of babysitters…) so I’d love to own it on DVD!

What a terrific movie. I would love to use the dvd for a parish get-together night as an example of living the Faith. Would be great for young people. Could also use it for faith development in the school staff situation. Would love a copy

  7. My husband saw this movie in theaters and has been eager for us to watch it together when it comes out. We would love to win a copy!

  8. Looking forward to seeing this movie….I just requested the book at the library to read the story as well!!! Thank you for the opportunity.
    Good luck everyone!!!

  9. Last night our youth group St. James Youth Rock watched For Greater Glory together, and we experienced a very powerful range of emotions. I have been reading today about all the saints from this war, and was moved deeply by Jose, and touched by Fr. Christopher. Love. If I win a dvd I will give it to our parish priest. Thanks and God Bless

I have been wanting to see this movie! Our family sponsors a Friar of the Renewal named Miguel Pro- and so through knowing him we have come to know Blessed Miguel Pro… this is a movie so Providential for our time and our country!!

  11. I would love to win a copy of this movie, it’s such a great story. Our local theater did not show this movie so many people in my small town haven’t seen it yet. I just suggested last night to my Columbiettes group that we sponsor a movie night and show this movie.

  12. I was waiting and watching for this movie to make it to our small city cinema and it never did. So I’m really looking forward to seeing it soon. Would love to win this DVD!

  13. I was told by our Bishop that this movie was a must see, however, by the time we were able to go it had closed. I would really like to see this movie on DVD. Thank you very much for this opportunity!

  14. Can not wait to see this movie… it never played where I live! . Hope I will be lucky, if not, will try to buy it. I think all christians should see this movie, especially today, when our freedom of religion is being jeopardize.
Thank you for giving me this opportunity.
    Many blessings.

  15. I would love to see this movie and share it with our home-based community and Presentation Ministries’ youth group.

  16. I would love to win this movie!! My Dad wanted to treat me to the movies and see this but I couldn’t find it playing anywhere in Alabama!!! We were so disappointed. My Dad is almost 70 and I can’t remember the last time we went to a movie together (I know I was a young kid) Anyhow if I don’t win it, I will order it & have a movie day, watching it with my Dad 🙂

  17. Shannon San Miguel on

I really want to see this movie. Several friends told me I had to watch it, but it had already left the theatres. We live near Mexico, so it is something we are really interested in!

  18. Loved the movie and I want to share it with my Youth Group and my Prayer Groups. What a great idea.
Love this site too. Very supportive and I get many ideas.

  19. margaret ridder on

I saw this movie when it was released. We traveled about 80 miles to do so but it was well worth the trip. The movie was exceptional in every way. Andy Garcia played his best role ever. I have been wanting to purchase this movie so that I can share it with others by showing it in my home. Thank you for offering this opportunity to possibly win a DVD of this wonderful movie. God bless you.

  20. What a great idea! I work evenings as a prison nurse, so I seldom get a chance to go to the movies and this was one I really wanted to see. Thanks for the opportunity!

  21. Loved the movie so much that I went again and brought as many teens as I could from my youth group! I hope by winning this dvd that I could show the teens that weren’t able to come as well any adults that were not able to make it to the theatre. This movie has been such a good jump start to many critical discussion with the youth and fellow peers. Jose Sanchez del Rio is such an amazing example to youth and up until this point has not been known to the English speaking world. I hope through his intercession that the teens I work with will be able to stand up for their faith and the courage never to deny Christ..even unto death.

  22. I deed see the movie, it is a great movie. It hurts to see the injustice done by the government to the citicens whom they are suppose to protect and to serve. The Cristiada is not found in Mexico’s History books, you only hear about from the people who lived and went throug it and most of them are already deceaced. For Greater Glory brings back some of the atrocities the Catholic Church suffered in that period of time to teach today’s generation. But Jesus said that we are going to be persecuted because even thou we are in this world we don’t belong to this world.

  23. I am a catechist for a predominantly hispanic parish. I would enjoy sharing the DVD with my students & families. On a personal level, my own father lived through this era in Mexico. He is now 87 yrs. old and remembers the catholics had to go underground for much of his childhood…

  24. I cannot wait to see this movie with my children, especially my boys. For them to see wonderful examples of heroic men who love the faith….priceless.

  25. Why was this film not highly publicized? It looks like a fabulous film! I would be like for St. Anthony’s Parish here in Fresno to have an outdoor movie night for all its parishioners!!!
Thanks for sharing the small clip! I would love to see it!!

  26. It wasn’t that long ago, and it wasn’t that far away. So, if you don’t think this kind of persecution can happen here, think again.

  27. Have heard great things about this movie. Did not get to see it in the theatre. Thanks for the opportunity to win.

    God bless!

    Holly in Kentucky.

  28. I wish we had the $$ to take our kids to this when it was in the theater. My husband and I saw it, and it was great. Would love to have a DVD to watch with the kids!!

  29. I just watched this on Apple TV this weekend and I really wished my son and husband were home to watch it to. I loved it.

  30. i love this movie, i was born and raised in mexico and i came to the states when i was 14 yrs old. i dont ever recalled being told anything about these events in history class or social classes while i study in mexico. having watched this movie caused me to realized that the united states is at danger of falling in the same path as mexico did back in the cristero time. it made me think how lucky we are to have priest, freedom or religion to a certain extent ( because for us catholics the freedom to worship GOD is under attack) and so often we dont even attend mass, confession or participate in the sacraments or the Eucharistic adoration. this is a must, A MUST SEE… if you are mexican or come from a mexican heritage please see it so you can learn the mistakes that our ancestors did and the courage’s people and priest that were willing to die for CHRIST. this is a film that will stayed with me for years to come.
