Today, at 4:39 pm ET, I will have the pleasure of appearing live on Ave Maria Radio with Al Kresta as a part of his 2012 Annual Book Recommendation special. I’ve had the pleasure of appearing on this show in the past and am always thrilled to share my recommendations with Al’s listeners. I aim to share books about which I’m passionate, but also books that might be diverse and not recommended by others featured on the show. I thought it would be fun to share the three picks with you today that I’ll be recommending to Mr. Kresta and his listeners. If you’re a book lover, you’ll want to listen to the entire program, which begins airing at 4:00 pm ET.
Here are my three picks:
Fearing the Stigmata: Humorously Holy Stories of a Young Catholic’s Search for a Culturally Relevant Faith by Matt Weber – Matt’s book was absolutely one of my favorites of 2012. I love books where you can truly connect with the voice, heart and soul of the author. This is one of those books that you want to read, read again, and give away to your loved ones so that you can share the experience of talking with them about it. Read my full review of Matt Weber’s book here and tune in to Al’s show to find out why this one’s on my list.
A Catholic Mother’s Companion to Pregnancy: Walking with Mary from Conception to Baptism by Sarah Reinhard – My friendship with its author aside, this inaugural book in our newly minted CatholicMom.com imprint with Ave Maria Press is a true treasure. Find a roundup of posts related to Sarah’s book here and tune in to Al’s show to find out why I say this book is not just for Catholic Moms.
Be Saints! An invitation from Pope Benedict XVI edited by Amy Welborn, illustrations by Ann Engelhart – This book is new on my bookshelf and is my favorite children’s pick for 2012. Read my recent review of this treasure here and tune in to Al’s show to find out why this book makes me cry happy tears every time I pick it up.
Again, you can listen live all afternoon and have your Amazon ordering fingers ready to score some great gift ideas for everyone on your list!
