One of the things I’ve really enjoyed with this series is the variety of people who fit under the “Catholic Techie” heading. When I did a recent call for interviews out on my social networks, I was thrilled to “meet” Adrienne Szewczyk.
Adrienne’s not a “famous” Catholic Techie, but she is very active in social media, with blogs, and within the technology field. She blogs at AdriMS, is on Twitter and Google+, and her last name is pronounced “chef-chick.” (I especially appreciated that last bit, and I thought you would, too.)
See if you don’t enjoy spending a few moments with Adrienne as I did.
Tell us about yourself in five (or six) words or less.
Catholic. Wife. Writer. Marketer. Tech Enthusiast.
Of your pursuits, what’s your favorite?
I really enjoy my role as marketing manager for a mobile app strategy and development firm. I get to be part of a team that implements tech in ways that makes a lasting impact on businesses, and I get to play with the latest tech gadgets. Right now, I’m pretty enamored with my iPad Mini. It fits perfectly in my purse!
When you think of the New Evangelization from your approach as a “Catholic Techie,” what excites you? What makes you want to continue?
I’m excited about the relationships we can build via social media, and the positive influence Catholics can have on each other (and silent observers) using blogs, Twitter, etc. One of my husband’s friends recently told him he was inspired to come back to his faith after seeing my husband’s Facebook posts in which he shared openly about his Catholic faith. That is the kind of thing that makes me want to continue!
What’s the most rewarding aspect of your work?
The most rewarding aspect of my work is knowing that I play a small part in helping people get the technology tools they need to thrive in their jobs. I never get tired of hearing our clients say what a positive difference we have made in their business and lives.
In your spare time, what are we likely to find you doing? Do you have a gadget in hand or do you go native and screenless?
In my spare time, I love to read. Much of the time this is on a screen, but nothing compares to holding an old book from the library in your hands.
I also enjoy baking and decorating cookies. (Here’s an album of some of my creations.)
