commission2013WPThe Commission for Women of the Diocese of Worcester is looking for you! We are an advisory group to the Bishop, devoting our time to serving the women of the diocese. Studies of women’s issues, the co-sponsorship of forums on housing with the Central Massachusetts Housing Alliance and hosting talks by Catholic women writers at Assumption College have been some of our accomplishments.

Perhaps the most visible sign of the work of the Commission has been its biennial “Gather Us In” women’s conference. A pioneering effort instituted in 2002 and held at the DCU Center, the conference has brought together thousands of women in fellowship and prayer over the years. Keynote speakers such as Immaculée Ilibagiza, Teresa Tomeo, Joyce Rupp and Paula D’Arcy have inspired many while workshops featuring dramatic reenactments of the Gospel, forums on service and talks on the spiritual life have nurtured the faith. Music, prayer and the celebration of liturgy have drawn the community together as one body.

We meet every third Tuesday of the month from September through May from 7:00-8:30 pm at the new pastoral center at St. Mary’s in Shrewsbury. We would love to have you join us! You can sit in on our meetings and decide if God is calling you to serve on the Commission.

Here is an article on our website with more details about the work of the  Commission and how you can help:

Come join this vibrant group of women dedicated to serving the Worcester diocese and beyond.
