Where I Spent My Time Online: Getting It Done Edition

where i spent my time online

Jooners

Do you have to organize a sign up for the pot luck, family reunion or car pool?  This site is true genius!!   A friend introduced me to it when he used it to help us organize collecting names to fill a prayer banner for a weekend long retreat.  For years the banner was organized by safety pinning oddly cut pieces of foam rectangles with hand printed names on them.  While this ginormous banner of multi-colored foam names can be visually inspiring when you see 48 hours covered with people praying for you, it was not very easy to manage!  Jooners.com was a fantastic solution – and one I am sure we could all find 100 more uses for!

I’m obsessed though I have not mastered it! In fact my only successful end product was the Requiem Prayer graphic in my Pray Your Newsfeed Tech Talk a few weeks ago.  However, I have managed to get the wonderful woman, Elizabeth Reardon, who is doing her field education for Loyola Institute for Pastoral Studies with me, duly addicted for my benefit.  She has created eye-catching retreat announcements and even the button for our new “Worth Revisiting Wednesday” Catholic blog link up!  Have you tried it yet? What is your favorite feature?

“According to a peer-reviewed study out of the University of Chicago, “A moderate level of ambient noise is conducive to creative cognition.” In a nutshell, this means being a tiny bit distracted helps you be more creative.

Coffitivity offers you 3 free “noise” choices  (also available for your Android or iOS device),  as well as subscription options ranging from $3 to $9. “You get the best boost for your buck without even having to glance up from your device.”

Honestly, I found this concept fascinating but was super skeptical – until I tried it!   As someone who has severe Attention Deficit I found it miraculously focus producing.  It just plays as loud or as soft as you want in the background (oh! how I wish I could have that type of volume control over my family!), and for me at least, worked to keep me on task!
