How do we love our neighbor as ourselves?
We pray for them.

How do we love our neighbor as ourselves?
We ask for God to bless them. We ask for them to receive every good and perfect gift. We hope for them what we hope and pray for ourselves. All of it, everything.

How do we love the neighbor who is difficult to love?
We pray for them. Not the “Lord change them” prayer, or “Lord, this person needs some fixing.” No, we pray for them to be blessed. We pray for them to receive every good and perfect gift. We ask for them to receive everything God has for us and more.

How do we love the neighbor who is difficult to love?
We beg for the grace from God to see them with His eyes and to love them with His heart.
We pray for them.

It is in loving our neighbor as ourselves that we learn how to truly love God with all our heart, all our soul, all our mind, and all our strength.

Ponder:

Identify the ‘neighbors’ in your life, those who are easy to love and those that require just a little bit more grace from God to love. Now, pray for them.

Pray:

You, Lord, my God, are truly Lord alone! You are my Lord, and I shall, with the help of your grace, learn to love you with all my heart, with all my soul, with all my mind, and with all my strength. Lord, I know this gift is worth more to you than any other I have to offer, and I only have it because you first loved me in the very same way. Amen.
