Maggie’s Organics, a longtime pioneer in fair trade and organic apparel, is donating 20 percent of the sales from each pair of its specially chosen Love Your Neighbor socks to support Catholic Relief Services’ (CRS) work with migrants and refugees around the world.

CRS, together with Catholic Charities USA (CCUSA) and the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB), is part of a global network of Caritas organizations participating in the Share the Journey campaign, launched by Pope Francis on Sept. 29. Together they have launched a campaign website  that provides resources, tools and ideas for Catholic parishes, organizations and individuals to participate.

In collaboration with the annual celebration of Respect Life Month in October, the United States bishops are asking Catholics around the country to participate in the campaign through prayers, actions of solidarity and donations during the global week of prayer and action Oct. 7-13.

Maggie’s Organic’s contribution to the Share the Journey campaign, “helps us to further our mission to help create a more just and equitable world,” said Bena Burda, Maggie’s Organics founder. “We believe in cause marketing and are proud to produce quality, organic products while also supporting efforts to improve people’s lives here and around the world. We are excited to work with Catholic Relief Services both globally and nationally because their work is so impactful.”

“Every step you take in these organic cotton socks is a step toward dignity, safety and love for refugees and migrants around the world,” Burda added.

The socks are made from 75 percent organic cotton, 25 percent nylon, and two percent spandex. Cost for a three-pack of socks is $30 and a single pair is $12. Orders of 36 pairs or more will receive the wholesale price of $6 per pair. Share the Journey socks make perfect gifts for ministry leaders, legislators, and friends. They can also be used for fundraisers.
