Custom Handmade Gifts

CatholicMom.com contributor Barbara Stein handcrafts rosaries and religious jewelry, which you’ll find in her Mary Devotions shop on Etsy. I have a few items made by Barbara, including a bead rosary, a twine rosary and a custom jewelry creation, and they are all beautifully made. Barbara notes, “For over ten years I have been creating handmade, quality rosaries and chaplets. I use high-quality parts and careful craftsmanship, and create chain, strung, wire-wrapped and twine rosaries. I use glass, stone, wood, crystal, and crystal pearl beads. I use bronze, sterling, and base metal rosary parts. I try to always have something for everyone, and for all budgets. Many of the rosaries and chaplets I make are commissioned for someone in particular. Some people know just what they want, and some people I take time to work with to create the ideal rosary for Sacramental events, weddings, special gifts, or just to keep for personal prayer. I enjoy working with people to create a rosary that is meaningful, but practical. A rosary should be a prayer aid — the beads keep us focused on what we’re doing, as it can be difficult to keep our minds on our prayer and intentions, and the entire story of Our Lord’s life that the rosary unfolds for us. Making rosaries is my apostolate. I feel I have been called to help bring Catholics closer to Jesus Christ through the rosary. One of the very first rosaries I made was a Seven Sorrows chaplet, so I feel particularly close to Our Lady of Sorrows, but Our Blessed Mother under all of her titles has my devotion. In addition to creating a variety of rosaries, I create hand-embroidered 100% wool brown scapulars, and handmade religious jewelry, including Consecration bracelets for women and men who have Consecrated themselves to Our Blessed Mother.”
